Garden Party: Our Favourite Floral Finds

Bright and bold floral prints to liven up your travel wardrobe.

One of the season’s biggest trends on the Spring/Summer 2012 runways had to be florals. Proenza Schouler and Erdem, both masters at making florals work season after season, showcased bright, bold prints in ultra-fem cuts. There’s not much else that really conveys spring and summer more than a fresh crop of blooming flowers, and we think it’s the perfect way to add a punch of colour to your wardrobe. Easy enough for everyday if you choose a more feminine print, and ideal for a wedding or tropical destination, we say join the garden party and hop on the floral trend.

1. Zara Floral Print Top, $60, zara.com.
We love the colours in this top. Pair this versatile top with chic white denim and flats during the day, or skinny black pants and a bright heel at night.

2. See by Chloé Printed Silk-Shantung Dress, $550, net-a-porter.com.
This will be our go-to dress for weddings this summer. Chic, yet still bold with the print, it is a great statement piece.

3. Topshop Red Rose Flippy Tunic, $48, thebay.com.
The cut of this dress will be flattering on just about shape, and we love the vintage, Mad Men vibe. It will work in the office with a blazer or cardigan, and with a cute hair updo and heels, a great date night outfit.

4. Milly Poppy-Print Canvas Tote, $295, net-a-porter.com.
If wearing a floral print isn’t your cup of tea, start infusing the print into your wardrobe through accessories. A brightly-hued tote like this poppy print will add a pop of colour to your classics.

5. J. Crew Fete Shorts in Gardenshade Floral, $278, jcrew.com.
Floral shorts are hot this season and a great to incorporate the trend. We will be packing these in our suitcase for our next tropical getaway.

6. Zara Floral Print Trousers, $80, zara.com.
You can look at these trousers in two ways. One, you could say they are over-the-top if wearing a floral print pant is daring for you, or you could say they’re subdued since they’re in black and white. Either way, we think they’re a fun investment this season.

7. Kate & Mel Floral Pump, $120, townshoes.com.
Dress up your LBD, or LWD (little white dress) for an afternoon tea session, wedding or garden party with these blooming shoes.
