Trend We Love: Animal Motif Sweaters

Cute and super cozy, it’s a perfect piece for a casual destination.

Kate Bosworth, Taylor Swift and Alexa Chung are just a handful of the celebrities who have recently been spotted in animal motif sweaters. A major trend on the fall 2012 runways, it was seen at shows including Burberry Prorsum, Kenzo, Altuzarra, and Kenzo, to name just a few.

We have to say we love the playfulness of the trend and how easy it is to wear. Great on the weekend with a pair of jeans or skinny pants, it also pairs well with other current trends including leather (try leather pants or a pleated skirt), meaning it can do double-duty for casual and more dressy occasions. Plus if you’re heading to a less fashion-focused destination, you’ll still be in style (and warm to boot). Love the trend as much as we do? Discover our favourite finds.

1. Sonia by Sonia Rykiel Intarsia wool and raccoon-blend sweater, $495,
We love how the motif wraps itself around the neck, which just adds to the whimsical aesthetic of the trend.

2. Wildfox Black Stallion sweater, $149,
There’s nothing like an oversized, slouchy sweater to wear when all you want to be is cozy. We’re thinking ski weekend, the cottage or even a spa getaway.

3. Warehouse Wolf sweater, $79,
Who has hungry eyes? An angora/wool blend, we love how this sweater makes a big statement.

4. Tory Burch Samantha sweater, $495,
If you want to try the animal motif trend without going overboard, this cheeky pullover complete with a logo-sized fox does the trick.

5. Mulberry Double Tiger Motif Jumper, $670,
You don’t even have to see the tiger’s adorable faces to love the animal motif on this sweater. We bet this will become a new favourite in your closet.

6. Madewell Owl sweater, $88,
Word to the wise — it’s time to smarten up with an owl motif. We’re kind of obsessed with anything to do with owls, and this fits the bill perfectly.

7. Topshop knitted jumping bunny sweater, $80,
Cute without being juvenile, we suggest toughening up the sweetness of the motifs with a pair of leather pants or motorcycle boots.
